Menopause

The last period is normally between 45 and 55 years old. But this depends on the ageing of the ovaries of the individual woman. In 95% of cases, it is the change in bleeding pattern that occurs in the first place. Characteristic symptoms of the menopause are palpitations, hot flushes and sweating. These symptoms often occur before menopause.

Some women experience irregular and often heavy bleeding. The bleeding also occurs for longer periods and this is due to the cessation of ovulation.
However, this does not affect all women; some women have normal and regular periods until one it ceases.

A hot flush comes suddenly . It starts with redness and an intense feeling of heat in the upper part of the body and is followed by sweating. The duration of this varies, from a few seconds to several minutes. For some, a freezing sensation follows the hot flush. These problems occur mostly at night with more intense and frequent attacks.
